Overview

This feature allows users to associate predecessors to tags and manage positive and negative lags, impacting task scheduling and dependencies.

Key Features

  1. Associate Predecessor Tasks:

    • Link tasks as predecessors and display their details in the Predecessor tab.
    • Tasks can be from any board or CPM (Critical Path Method).

  2. Manage Positive and Negative Lag:

    • Positive lag is added when a tag is moved to the right.
    • Negative lag is added when a tag is moved to the left.

  3. Associate Rollup to Work Tag:

    • Link a rollup to a work tag, displayed with a yellow "R" badge.

  4. Extend Board End Date:

    • Automatically extend the board's end date if the new lag pushes the task beyond the board's end date.

How to Use

Associating a Task as a Predecessor

  1. Open Tag Properties:

    • Click on the tag to open its properties page.
    • Navigate to the "Predecessor" tab.

  2. Add a Predecessor:

    • Click on the "Task Name" field to open the dropdown.
    • Select a task from the list to set it as a predecessor.
    • Click "Save" to apply.

  3. Visual Indicators:

    • A yellow "P" badge appears on the tag, indicating zero lag.
    • Hover over the badge to view predecessor details.

Managing Lag

  1. Positive Lag:

    • Move the tag to the right to add positive lag.
    • The "P" badge changes to green.
    • The lag value updates in the Predecessor tab.

  2. Negative Lag:

    • Move the tag to the left to add negative lag.
    • The "P" badge changes to red.
    • The lag value updates in the Predecessor tab.

Associating a Rollup

  1. Link Rollup to Work Tag:

    • During tag creation, associate a rollup in the "Scheduling Rollup Items" field.
    • A yellow "R" badge appears on the tag.

  2. Manage Rollup Movement:

    • Moving a rollup also moves associated work tags by the same amount.
    • The lag remains unchanged.

Extending Board End Date

  1. Automatic Extension:
    • If the lag pushes the task beyond the board’s end date, a popup will appear.
    • Confirm to extend the board's end date accordingly.

Important Notes

  • Multiple Predecessors: More than one predecessor can be added to a tag.
  • Manual Lag Adjustment: Users can manually adjust lag values in the Predecessor tab.
  • UI Changes: Ensure any UI changes are approved by the User Interface team.
